Spring Fever

The desert is starting to bloom! Along the highways the Golden Poppies and Lupines are showing their gold and purple-blue splendor! Soon this area will be ablaze with the delicate flowers of each and every cactus, plant, and tree, each in their own time. The huge majestic Saguaro Cactus is the very last to show it's white waxy flowers (end of May, early June) which produce a fruit that will burst open to give a brilliant red inside treat of seeds to the birds. The flower painting "Yellow Rose of the Desert" seen here is the native Prickly Pear Cactus. After the abundant rainfall we've had this winter, it's going to be a fabulous season for nature lovers wanting to photograph and paint these lovely creations of nature. I've already got some new flower paintings completed recently that will be at my next art show. Hope you get a chance to enjoy the desert bloom this year! It's time to get outside and paint!
